The cattle are watered, now, now that we have a good pump. Back in the old days, before the range was fenced, we didn't have to worry. A modern solution to remote, low-energy pumping? This is a Stirling engine, and the Ericsson is the same guy who invented the Monitor iron-clad ships used by the North in the American Civil War. Published in an unidentified magazine in the early 1900's.
