THE MENTOR was a non-fiction magazine intended to teach and instruct. In its earliest days it was very clearly intended for self-instruction, but by the 1920's it was a more mainstream non-fiction magazine with instructive articles. In late 1929 it changed focus again, replacing the stylized color engravings with very stylized Moderne (aka Art Deco in cases like this) graphics. At this time the price was reduced from thirty-five cents to twenty-five cents. The July 1930 issue changed the title to THE MENTOR-WORLD TRAVELER, but it doesn't seem to have survived the year.
