Aimed at the newly democratized automobiling public, this magazine explored autos as "the popular magazine for owners, garagemen, repairmen, dealers" and everyone else they couldn't get on the cover page. Worldcat says, "Publisher: Cincinnati : American Automobile Digest Pub. Co., 1918-1925" but various book dealers claim it was a retitling of THE AMERICAN CHAUFFER, originally from the American Chauffer Publishing Co. of Cincinnati. [A 1915 issue under that title claims it as "An Automobile Digest / a monthly magazine for owners and chauffers".] By 1925 it seems to have transitioned to being a trade magazine again, and as AUTOMOBILE DIGEST survived for many more years.
